The Stanley Works, founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley in New Britain, Connecticut, started as a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company. In 1857, Frederick's cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, the two companies merged, and the Rule and Level Company became the famous Hand Tools Division of The Stanley Works.

The full tape blade coating and added BladeArmor at the hook protect the tape against abrasion and heavy use, extending its life**. The first 6 feet of the tape rule are reinforced with BladeArmor coating for maximum durability, and the Mylar polyester film extends the life of the entire blade.

The heat-treated spring provides long life and smooth blade recoil, while the 11-inch tape standout and 16-inch and 19.2-inch stud center markings simplify framing jobs. The STANLEY FATMAX tape measure comes with a limited lifetime warranty and measures 1-1/4-inch-by-25-feet.
